First off I just wanted to say that I love the podcast and I think you guys do a great job on it!
With the beta NDA lifted and more and more people having a chance to play the beta, we're starting to see a lot more negative opinions arise. Some about certain aspects of FFXIV's gameplay and some about the whole game in general. After spending some time with the beta, I definitely think Squeenix has made some terrible decisions. One being surplus experience/fatigue. I understand that SE wants us to level other jobs, and I plan to do so, but I want to do it at my own pace, not at the pace SE tells me to. The surplus exp/fatigue also just feels like a punishment to players who have more time to play. I'm also very disappointed with the way the Market Wards are set up. It took me 3 hours of searching the Market Wards to find the crafting material I needed. If the game had an Auction House similar to FFXI's, I would have been able to easily find the crafting materiels that I needed within minutes.
Here is what I want to know:
I know that you're excited for FFXIV, but I'd be very interested to hear you address on the podcast what you
don't like about the game so far. I would also love to hear your thoughts on
Ash the Stampede's "In Summary" thread. It's an excellent thread and my opinions pretty much mirror the thoughts in the opening post.
Hopefully episode 22 addresses what you wanted to hear about the game. :)
Thanks for listening. :)

Hey guys,
I'm a veteran fanatic FFXI player (among other games), and heard about this site by word-of-mouth a week ago, and haven't left here since then. I'm already fanatical about FFXIV, and this site is great to find others who share my obsessive nature. I've spent the last week listening to the podcast, and it's simply fantastic.
So, the reason I'm posting is because I had an interesting thought. After all these Alpha leaks (shhhh), we've seen a lot of updates to the Classes and how they level up. The leveling system seems similar to that of FFV, where there's both EXP and class/weapon points. Then, with the Ability Points for the action/skill bar being similar to how a BLU in FFXI selected his spells, we know that skills/abilities from other classes you have leveled can be applied to your current class, with the skills scaling with their relevance to your current weapon. This is fantastic, because we all know that any high level character hates having to swap an entire subjob to go farm gil or items. Now we'll be able to actually have a DRG/BLU who can still have THF skills if he needs for solo farming. This also means that classes can pull the abilities they liked most from their favorite classes into their main class. Makes me giddy. I'm hoping they are able to keep the abilities balanced well so that there won't be a cookie-cutter skill set that really stands out above the others. It always bugged me, because it usually meant losing a skill or sub-job that I enjoyed playing with in favor of a different job that I didn't really enjoy playing but still had a better output. I know it can be tough to keep things balanced across the board, but we can hope and keep our fingers crossed.
My one thought is this: what about crafting? From what I've heard/read, crafting has become similar to fighting classes with skills and leveling up. Which leads me to think that crafting classes will have abilities that are applied to the action/skill bar, like if a cook had to apply a "Raw fish handling" skill to make sushi. Which also means, if we apply the new "Blue Magic" system to crafting, we'll be able to take other crafting skills and abilities and apply them to the current craft. So the ideas y'all had about crafting skills or auras might be true. Like in FFXI, when one needed a sub-craft skill to make certain items, the same might be found in FFXIV. A blacksmith skill to heat metal a special way could be applied to a goldcrafter making better jewelry metals.
Another thing, to talk about a past podcast topic, y'all brought up the idea of having crafters in your party for special non-durability buffs and such. What if we can apply crafting aura buffs like this, as part of our "Blue Magic" system, to our current fighting class? The affect might and probably will be lessened than actually having a main crafter class present, but it still would be excellent to have a least a small buff like that while fighting.
As a final note, I'm hoping that crafting won't be easy in FFXIV. I play WoW, and not to call them out, but as an example, crafting is easy. Everyone has it. But to have every craft, you have to get them on separate characters, which means it's not always present on the character one is playing at the moment. However, in FFXIV, since we'll all have access to all our crafts basically at any time, I'm hoping to have some real challenge to them. Especially if they include these cool auras, I don't want everyone to have them. It's nice to have something special you have to work for that you can supply to your party. If it's too easy, then everyone will have it, and it'll lose its special nature.
Sorry, about the huge post, but you guys know how it is being a fanatic and ideas spilling out.

Sorry for taking so long to respond to your post.
As for crafting, I like that I can be everything, but I wouldn't call it easy, in fact, I think they now made it take skill and be less random. I've played around with Blacksmith a lot these past days and find it enjoyable, so I think I'll continue with it. There are issues, but I don't think I would call it easy, but I wouldn't say it's impossible and very hard to learn (as in XI).
I hope you keep listening, and thanks. :)

Would definitly like to see a unoffical server. I know we have a decent group on kefka, not sure about other servers though.
I've been playing on Kefka, but I think I'll change to emperor for the release. :)
