Its still sort of weird to me in FF games where people get shot point blank with machine guns only to take 8 damage.

True true, but its just really weird for me to see that with lightsabers.

I for one am very, very excited for FFXIV. FFXI was my first and most beloved MMO, and now that I m married with two kids I look forward to seeing what SE can do when catering to a slightly more casual base.

That said, I am also very excited for TOR. I am in my 30's, and still just saying the word Star Wars makes me giddy. Return of the Jedi was the first movie I saw in theaters with my mother, and to this day I love getting into that world and running around. Combine that with the fact that the KOTOR is arguably the best Star Wars game on the market, and it is easy to see why a lot of people are excited to see what Bioware can do with this title.

At this point, I would definitely put my self in the more excited for FFXIV boat, but I don't see why anyone should be thought less of for wanting to play both, or only wanting to play TOR.

I will say that I do like how TOR is story intensive. That is pretty cool.

I also seem to like instanced zones. They seem to allow for more story.

The single reason I find this game to be a mockery of star wars is the forced alignment system. Here is a list of the classes and there alignments.

Trooper - Smuggler - Jedi Knight - Jedi Consular. = Jedi Alignment.

Bounty Hunter - Sith Warrior - Imperial Agent - Sith Inquisitor = Sith Alignment.

Now I can understand the jedi classes being jedi, and the sith classes being sith. But by this class systems reckoning, Jabba the Hut is actually of Jedi Alignment. Also Storm Troopers are Jedi alignment. Starwars Galaxies had it right back in the day, Imperial alignment or Rebel alignment.

Agreed. But I'm pretty sure TOR is supposed to take place way before the Empire and Rebellion most of us are familiar with. Either way, though, forced alignment is pretty lame.

They will probably pull a WoW and make the smuggler and bounty hunter available for both sides in the first expansion pack. The other classes are basically counter parts of each other and couldn't be alignment free.

Glad to see it. Hopefully XIV earns more critical acclaim like that, I really wanna see this game take off. I think it's deserving of every bit of praise it receives, I don't think it will be a game to disappoint.

G4 sort of covered FFXIV a bit, idk if I would consider that good or bad though...
MMO Report July 15th.

For the SWTOR and FFXIV thing, eh I just can't get my mind to accept the way they set up the game. I mean it's BioWare so that really is cool but like Acyd said, I imagine a lightsaber chopping up a guy/thing in one hit. Also, SciFi MMOs aren't my thing.

Stop talking about TOR!! This is FFXIV Core talking about FFXIV. We don't care about TOR.
