The Xbox360 version of Final Fantasy XIV is delayed due to ongoing discussions between Square Enix and Microsoft. One of the reasons for the delay is talk about how Xbox Live is going to work with FFXIV.

“FFXI for 360; at that point PS2 didn’t have a hard disc [and] that was really difficult for us, but Xbox 360 had that from the beginning, so that really helped us. We managed to smoothly move onto 360 from the Windows version, so that was very good to us,” said the developer.

“However, for FFXIV, because 360 has its own policy with Xbox Live that is different from [the] internet, that’s something we’re in discussions with Microsoft [about], to come to an agreement. That’s one of the reasons it’s not going to be launched at that point.”

If Sony pays money, SE will decide not to. That's the deciding factor, who pays them more money.

Honestly, I don't really care, I will just be happy with my superior graphics :P. Sorry 360 only owners, just how it is xD.

i think SE want everyone on xbox 360 to be able to play without any extra fees, including silver memberships, MS most likely want to charge extra and that would just put people off playing the game as they would have to pay xbox LIVE fee plus SE fee, it's a shame really. i hope MS backs down and just lets their players play without the extra fee

I think in the end, Micro$oft will reach an agreement with SE which will enable FFXIV users to access the online game without LIVE, kinda like how we access the internet.

Good move from SE , it would be unfair for Xbox360 users to pay extra meanwhile people on the PC or PS3 pay only the fees for FFXIV.

in my opinion it would be best if they don't launch it on XBOX 360 at least this time micro$oft will know that you cant everything with money.

my situation is the same as Zyuu's i own a Xbox360 but will be getting it for PC, theres alot of other titles i wanna play on the 360 ( And maybe use for a 2nd char or something )

One thing that could be a potential problem is if the Xbox 360 players could intereact with PS3 and PC owners. PS3 and PC could possibly get along well, and PC gets along well with Xbox 360, but Xbox 360 and PS3 do not get together well at all. The community could become more violent when the Xbox 360 joins the fray. Personally, I don't have a problem (as a Sony fanboy) with Xbox 360 getting FF XIV (though I'm still angry at SE for allowing FF XIII to go to Xbox 360), the more subscribers the better. However, if conflicts rose as a result of console fanboy wars, then it might be best if there were servers that separated the Xbox 360 from the PS3. The PC could play with either the PS3 or PC. But the Xbox 360 could not play with the PS3.

the console wars are stupid but what you're saying is right and it could become a problem in ffxiv, the full on "fanboys" will constantly bash eachother wherever they go and ffxiv could suffer, it won't affect me as i don't chat much in game but it may affect alot of others. why can't we all just...get along :P

Hmm...Well for me, I have to say...
1.) Xbox will have to change their whole user agreement system and they have to think about how people will react to that, Though it would be good for them to change the system they would have to find a way for them not to copywrite any sony laws because that will be a huge lawsuite against them(lol).
2.) They also are probably thinking that if they don't do it they are going to give sony all the credit and this game is really going to be big loss for them.
3.)The only big problem I see is that they will have to re-format the game to fit on the Xbox360 which will take time to do and Xbox users will be dissapointed if they dont get the game the same time as other pc and ps3 useres. So there is alot they will have to think about, I personally would not play it on the 360 because it is originally coming out for ps3, which means to me it will have better graphics and run smoother and thats what counts to me :). I see it like this...

I am going to sitting down on my nice comfy couch, looking at my 52in. plasma tv, while playing FFXIV on my ps3. That will make me happy :) LOL

Not surprised, really. Ah well, it goes back to FFXI's original launch style. Playstation and PC first, Xbox later.

I am purchasing it for the PC anyway so it does not really effect me, but sorry those of you hoping to snag the Xbox version!
