Exclusive interview with FFXIV Producer Hiromichi Tanaka

FFXIV at Gamescom [updated all the time]



First of all, there are countless new screen shots now available for viewing!

From the biggest game show being held in Germany, Cologne “GamesCom”, a Final Fantasy XIV playable version was made available, screenshots were made available to public from the alpha that those lucky few were able to play. Square Enix officials there said that they would be adding more elements to the game in the future and that this is nowhere near the final product.

As you can see below, new field screen shots were released.






Once safe, clear the Guildleave and you can warp back to [eteraito] the starting point.


As you can see in the screenshot, there is a bar below that has the “action commands”. You can select and register supplies in the gauge for easy command and access. All windows such as the chat window and the compass were neatly put below so the mouse is free.


Before you were an adventurer in [Eteraito]. This time this is the starting point.

Something to note is that even the farthest objects are detailed and beautiful. Even with this amazing quality, there was no load time. We were told that FFXIV will be “seamless,” unlike its cousin FFXI. So far the alpha played smoothly and there were not large issues which is quite surprising for the stage the game is in. (Things are still in development so there are just a few bugs but largely the game seems very polished.)


Five monsters and their appearance were revealed so far. Famous from the Final Fantasy Series, like the our beloved FFXI, they are sure to attract players!

Examples of the Armory System were introduced in the past. Now we are given the chance to look up close at the weapons and clothing associated with them.

uhh.. just right click them and do the View image.. it takes a while some times... Or check the sources. You can get the images there too!

and the weather video is just going down because its getting so many views... be patient and it will show up :]

Sewing Master seem interesting but I'm not too fond of the outfit. I like the idea that the job is going to use needles as a main weapon though. Eat needles!!! Really curious about the combat system for this job.

I love the monster designs in this game. They look far less generic looking than in ffxi. Mamets are even cuter than automatons and that marlboro is scaring the hell out of me. o_o cant wait for this game.

I want to see more weather effects and if puddles of water shows ripple effects during a rainy storm. The draw distance and lighting with weather and night/day cicle look good now I hope it doesn't change.
