Small update for you folks! The application process has been changed and you are now apparently able to update your application when before you simply received an error message stating you already submitted an application. This means you can update your application with new information if necessary.

Update: This applies to EU and NA. Also see the image below, it's the information you get after submitting your code.

Attached Image: yeaheyah-1.png

There's also some teasing bits found in the fine print at http://entry.ffxiv.com/na/index.html and related sections.

Here are a few of them:

Quote

If you have received a FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code for registering FINAL FANTASY XIII on the Square Enix Members site, please use it to apply for the beta test.

Quote

If you have already applied for the FINAL FANTASY XIV beta test but would like to apply for the PlayStation 3 beta with a FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code, please be aware that all previous applications will be invalidated.

Quote

If an applicant applies multiple times, only the final application will be valid.

Quote

The promotional code will also be required to obtain the FINAL FANTASY XIV secret in-game item, so please hold on to your code until the game’s official release.

So for those of you purchasing FFXIII, make sure to register the game at the Square Enix Members site! This will possibly help you, in the future or by updating your application, have a better chance at entering the FFXIV beta or the PS3 FFXIV beta.

And of course there's also the lovely "secret" in-game item that's promised, so don't lose the code!

What is the FFXIV promo code from? Or is it somehow connected to registering XIII?

Edit: Nevermind, I somehow skipped over the first quote box. My bad.

the promo code confuses me.

are they talking about the Japanese promo code you got with FFXIII? because I have that.

Or are they giving you a new one tomorrow when FFXIII english edition is released.

I just bought FFXI from Direct2drive and didn't receive a product serial code either (btw - if others aren't familiar, this isn't a registration key). Anyways I emailed Square Enix customer support about this, and this is their response:

"Please remember that only BOXED/Retail versions of the game will include points. Games downloaded from Steam, PSN, Xbox Live Arcade or Wiiware do not include points."

I was going to hold out on FFXIII but if it gets me a better chance of getting into the PS3 beta then I am picking it up tomorrow.

You register the game and link it to your SEID and then you're emailed your code, apparently. It's the same as the JP version. You just gather the code differently.

So perhaps someone could clarify. Does PC beta selection end March 11th? If so, then can I just wait until afterward and use my promo code for a possible PS3 beta invite? As Crunshii said, I don't want to invalidate my PC application.

Just a heads up. You apply the code in PS3 box to your members account, and that gives you another code. This 2nd code is good for an in game FFXIV item, and the ability to sign up for PS3 beta on the sign up form.

When you copy the code and paste it into the form it looks like it is ok, but will continuously throw an error. You have to manually enter the code with no spaces or it will cut off the last 4 digits and it won't work.

This over-rides your PC application, but my brother was more than happy to enter an application for me with the PS3 code. Good luck, and enjoy.

I am a little confused. Do I enter the promotional code only if I want to beta test for the PS3? It looks to me like you can enter the code and choose PC for your beta test platform. I don't want to enter it in and invalidate my previous application. I guess my question is will it do me any good to enter in the code if I am trying to get into the PC beta test or will that just mess me up and make me only eligible for the PS3 beta even if I choose the PC option.

I think you can choose which ever one you want, I don't see why they would give the option of Ps3 or PC after entering the code if it was only available for the ps3.

Knowing FFXIII gives chance for a XIV beta doesn't help with my PS3 no longer reading blu-rays. So depressing! I need a job, arg!

Nice, I got that, gonna register then! :P

Thanks Shaman

- UPDATE -
Shaman, if you can add also the http://entry.ffxiv.com/eu/index.html.
Many EU have a doubt, and say that doesnt apply to EU.

The EU Member ID has a new website that is working almost 100%.
You need to register the FFXIII on the Member ID in order to receive the email with promotional code.(http://member.eu.square-enix.com/en/)

Cheers
Mooga
