So i was thinking about all the targeting, mobs, & playes on the screen at the same time today. It occured to me that there are some games that offer a colorblind mode to make it easier for some people, like myself, that don't quite see all the same colors that normal people do. I thought of this while playing call of duty. I have read almost everything i can get my hands on for FFXIV & don't recall seeing anything about a "Colorblind Mode".

So my question, I was wondering if anyone has heard or read of them implementing a mode for partially colorblind people to see the targeting, mobs, & players better on a cluttered screen?

I know WoW does this but much of it centers around PvP reasoning.

I'm by no means an expert on the issue but I believe with using icons and cursor type images to differentiate between things it might not be needed. Again I have no experience on this topic from either side of it but I'm not sure what could be added in to allow for such adaptation.

I know in 1.0 they had some cursor options that were really standout-ish but I don't know if that's what you're looking for. I imagine things like that would carry over into ARR.

Well most colorblind modes just make the icons different colors so that they stand out different from the background. Alot of times the targeting icons will blend into the backgrounds, for us colorblind folks. Alot of times, for me anyway, its the reds, blues, greens, & some yellows that blend very very well into the backgrounds. I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything about this becoming am possibility.

+1... I have the same issue. I used to play some games I would have to shake the mouse a bit to get a "sign" that it was somewhere on the screen, lol.

As of now there's no word on support/lack of support for people playing with some type of impairment -- SE hasn't really revealed enough about ARR in general.

Hopefully you'll see first-hand soon. If you or anyone notices any issues, be sure to post about the problem in the beta forums. That's what they're there for. (There's colorblindness in Japan, too, after all.)

I use the colorblind mode in League of Legends despite not being the slightest bit colorblind. I even have a 1440p IPS monitor with amazing color but still find colorblind mode to be more efficient as far as being aware of what is going on. It would be a good feature to see.

I would suspect that a shader mod could be made that would do the trick but that might not fall in line with the ToS.

I know in FFXI i had to change most of the chat txt so i would notice it better, the orginal colors for some chats were just so hard on my eyes. If anything i can do that on ARR, its not that big of a deal for chat just takes time is all, would be nice to just hit a button to switch it though.

As for targeting well . . . . that a whole different story if your talking about colorblindness.

http://www.gameacces...yguidelines.com is a good reference to work from, they could get lots of ideas of how to cater for different impairments from there.

There, but slightly differently - in Japan it is less common in men compared to in the west, and more common in women.
