Hello, I was in FFXIV Beta and started the game with the Collectors Edition but stopped playing after a while.
I never payed for a subscription, but I never canceled my account either.


On my Square Enix Account, FFXIV shows up as active and my character still exists both on the account and here:

I am obviously not going to get Legacy because I didn't and can't pay for 90 days anymore, but I still have some questions.

What happens to my old character, does it transfer over?
Will I have to go buy a copy of FFXIV ARR or can I just add a subscription?


Urg... I wish I knew about Legacy ages ago... I would have payed the 90 days...

You will NOT be required to buy anything else when the game launches again. You can use your current account and simply download the new client.

But they will wipe all characters at launch right? or are V 1.0 players gonna remain there characters lvls when the games starts up again?

1.0 Players will play at their designated servers when ARR launched, fresh new servers will be available. Both Old and New can create newly create characters in fresh new servers.

New and Old player have choice to either start in establish servers or fresh servers.

Old Players can't bring their current characters to Fresh New Servers.

Ya the V1 Chars will remain intact, lest they have some VERY ANGRY vanilla players on their hands :O

At Phase 3, version 1 characters will be available to play at their v1 levels. And from what SE says, it seems that anyone who bought and played v1 are automatically allowed to play in Phase 3.
(Notes: Phase 3 will have a level cap of 35. If your v1 character has classes above that level, they will stay at those levels but cannot gain levels. Any progress made during Phase 3 will be reset at the start of Phase 4.)

At Phase 4, version 1 characters will again be available to play at their v1 levels. (SE basically resets them to where they started in Phase 3.) No reduced level cap though.
SE wants all Phase 4 progress to carry over into official release. However SE may have to reset progress if unfortunate circumstances arise.
SE also wants this to be an open beta.

Timeframes: Don't expect Phase 3 before late March, but hopefully we'll see it before mid-May. Don't expect Phase 4 before mid-April, but hopefully we'll see it before mid-June. (E3 is June 11-13, btw.)

So even If I didn't make legacy I can play Phase 3 & 4 Beta? I currently have no Beta invite and no Legacy status.

Beta Phase 4 is Open Beta, so yes anyone will be able to play at that time using their old character. As of now, all current progress made during phase 4 will carry over into retail launch. Basically meaning during phase 4, you can start playing while they hash out what should be the final bugs and balancing.

Phase 3 will have limitations, and is being used to test the Character Import system, the progress made will be wiped when phase 4 begins.

Yes, phase 3.

"All Legacy status holders qualify as testers in phase 1."

Good to know I wasn't able to buy a Legacy account at the time but I still hold an active XIV account. Wonder if they will give extras to the people who bought the game but didn't get a Legacy account (an item maybe).

Not exactly a tatoo and those details are still disclosed, but overall those who have a 1.0 Character will get some sort of marking that they survive dalamud.
