Hello everyone,

There seems to be some concerns and confusion surrounding Legacy members and the Beta Test sign ups so we'd like to clarify everything a bit more.

Legacy Members
Legacy members will be able to participate in the Windows PC beta test from phase 1 without doing anything, regardless of whether or not you applied for the Beta. (Except for extremely rare cases where service accounts or Square Enix accounts were terminated)

Legacy Members & the PS3 Beta Test
Even Legacy members will need to apply to become a PlayStation 3 beta tester. If you would like to participate in the PlayStation 3 Beta Test, we ask that you apply.

When applying, no matter what selection you make on the Beta Test application, your status for the Windows PC version will not be affected. More specifically, feel free to select either "PlayStation 3" or "Windows PC and PlayStation 3." (There is no difference between these options for Legacy members.)

FFXIII (PS3) Members Code
Firstly, you do not need to have an FFXIII Members code to apply for the PS3 Beta Test. If you enter an FFXIII Members code, you will be given priority over those that do not. If you have one, we recommend that you enter it.

Selection for the PS3 version does not affect Windows PC version beta access. You will not lose access to the Windows PC version if you are selected for the PS3 version. It will be possible to play on both platforms with the same ID if selected.

Please also note that the PS3 beta will begin in phase 3, and this is when FFXIII Members code holders and those who wanted to try the PS3 beta in the past will be able to play.

On the "Beta Test Details and Requirements" page we asked that those that had previously entered their code to indicate it, but this has been removed from the English, French and German text as this is the first time the code is able to be entered.

Thanks for the info. This is kinda messed up though. What about people that entered their FFXIII members code years ago? D:

I'm in that boat. I have no access to my code anymore so I didn't enter it when I put in for the ps3 beta yesterday. I'm legacy so I'll just have to wait and see.

I had a feeling after everything that happened they figured some people who entered their codes had likely moved on. This allows the people really interested to get in.

It should pull the code from the accounts who have it applied already. :(

I don't think this is the goal with the beta this go around. Their hopes this time seems to be to build up a really good impression and social word about the game. They said that they would send invites out to those who first applied years ago. Chances are they've "moved on" as well, but who passes up a chance to play a game for free? Especially one you were once interested in.

They have to do a lot of PR and damage control now. This beta really is the make it or break it point for the game, which is why I think it is going to be EXTREMELY polished. The Alpha alone was better than most betas, with the exception of tuning some #s..

It says that "we asked that those that had previously entered their code to indicate it, but this has been removed from the English, French and German text as this is the first time the code is able to be entered." So I don't see how people could have already entered their codes like you said? Besides the JP players.. who get the option to check that they have entered one.

Well I would kinda think that players that purchased FFXIII, and went through the trouble of inputting their code online (in my case, starting an SE account as well) wouldn't be the type that would just give up on the game. Might be just me though. I'm actually not too worried about it really. Either way I'm buying the game day 1 and committing a lot of my free time towards the full release. I would probably have a better experience not having played the beta. Who knows though. I'm excited we're getting close! :)

We got to enter the codes a few years back when we converted the Members code over into the 20-digit one for the ps3 - as at that time the "ps3 beta" was still on the table. I think it's just bad wording even on the clarification.

This was back in 2010 -

If you forget your FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code, you may review it by logging into SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS and visiting the FINAL FANTASY XIII Feature Page.

*PLEASE NOTE
- The FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code is available in limited quantities. The code is obtainable by registering a serial code printed on a special MEMBERS Point Card included in the first production run of FINAL FANTASY XIII for PlayStation 3.
- The FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code enables you to apply for, but does not guarantee participation in, beta testing for FINAL FANTASY XIV. Those selected to participate in the beta test will be notified at a later date.
- The FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code is required only for the PlayStation 3 beta testing application. The code is not required for the beta testing application for the Windows® version of FINAL FANTASY XIV.
- Submission of the FINAL FANTASY XIV beta testing application is limited to one per Square Enix ID, either for Windows or PlayStation 3.
- Beta testing of the PlayStation 3 version of FINAL FANTASY XIV will begin after the start of the Windows version’s beta testing. The schedule will be announced at a later date.
- The FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code can be used for FINAL FANTASY XIV beta testing entry starting March 9, 2010. The FINAL FANTASY XIV in-game item can be received after the official start of the FINAL FANTASY XIV service by entering this promotional code.
- Each FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code may only be used once for each program described in this document.

Sadly for people like myself who entered the code but have since lost the original slip (2 moves and a kid later) there's no way to retrieve it as the site to do so doesn't exist anymore.

I am in the exact same boat. The proof that I entered the code years ago is staring right at me when I log into my FFXIV account, I can see "Promo Code - Asuran Armguards" listed in my services. I sent an email to SE Support asking if they can retrieve the code I entered for me.

im confused - because we bought the original ffxiv game, are we guaranteed a place in the beta?? or is it only people who were in the original ffxiv BETA that are guaranteed to get in??

Those who have Legacy status are in from the get go. Original ownership of XIV is a requirement (as it's impossible to get legacy if you didn't own the game).

No problem.

Make sure you apply though regardless. You never know if you'll make it in right off the bat or not.

I think i'm legacy with both account, but exactly how can i be sure?
If i go to SE account management and login --> Services and options --> Select service --> FFXIV --> Option list: it says "permanent options" and just under that "Legacy Jun 26, 2012" is it enough right? I did not receive any confirmation email.. just wanna be sure, thanks to anyone who can help

My Legacy qualification email has the same date as my Legacy permanent option on my SE account page, so it sounds like you qualified.

The email was sent by their ffxiv-newsletter account. Maybe it got stuck in your spam filter, or your account information has an old email address.

You have LEgacy Status, and will be in Beta Phase 1.
