Wall of Text!

Going on what FFXIV 1.0 required you computer would not play the game very well if at all. Now with ARR 2.0 that is all out the window but we do not know how the game is going to run with lower end computers.

Right now I would say looking for a new computer would be a good thing since we are looking at a 2013 release date.

Start saving your pennies :)

Did u get a good swim on that wall of text Idle?

It's a dell Dimension E520
LGA 775
DDR 2
PCI-E 1.0 x16
306W
Spec is too old for this game, not worth upgrading parts, new PC will be the answer.

Took me a whole beer to get through it all...not that It was really long but the beer was that good :)

All I saw was Pentium D and 6450 video card so that told me enough lol

To the OP if you need recommendations on a new system make sure you come and ask us before purchasing

Lolz. For what its worth I run WOW, LOTRO, DDO, & Warhammer Online very well on my computer. I'm hoping they won't make the game very hard to run on my computer as I cannot afford a new one at the current juncture.

I saw a Dual Core processor computer for sale that wasn't even 2.80ghz like my current PC.

So, what's the bare minimum or middle-ground PC that you think the game ran on?

I seem to remember running FFXI on a Dell Dimension 4600 with a dialup conn! Why the heck did they up the requirements for FFXIV?

The issue is that 1.0 was horribly programmed and required higher than normal PC specs to run the game at a decent frame rate Now with 2.0 they bring in a new game engine that is suppose to be more forgiving with the PC specs but until we get our hands on it we cant say that your system with work. But from what we have seen I do not think you will like the gaming experience with on your current system. When the beta is realized there will be a new benchmark program that will give us a little more insight.

Bare min would be a Newer Dual Core CPU, 8GB Ram with a GTX460 or better Video card for decent gaming experience.

On FFXI remember that was programmed to run on a PS2 first then ported over to PC 10 years ago. Things have changed in the gaming space I think most Smartphones can run FFXI now lol

At this point I would wait for the new Benchmark to be released before buying anything. Trust me you have time before the game is going to go live,

Enjoy

Sad to say this game is a totally a different beast, but if you are curious to see what we mean or just wanting to get an idea try running this http://www.finalfant...a/benchmark/na/ if u score less than 2k it ain't going to happen.

Seems only the fileplanet download is viable...

Forget upgrading PC, I might just plunk down fifty dollars and play my existing characters on PS3! :D

This time I was 552. turns out I had virus scan and carbonite running at same time...

I've done CYI searches before. It's deceptive because a Steam version of Kane & Lynch: Dead Men runs slow on my PC even though I got a good rating from CYI...

Well CYI should just be run to see if you meet the requirements or how far from them you might be, not really the performance of the game play.

Any thoughts about this HP?

Or, well, what's the best yet cheapest option of these?

Here's one on Newegg I'm eyeballing.

Problem with the PC's you posted is the GPU spec. they put bright lights to it and call it gaming machine lol. The trick is to look for a CPU that is multicore above 3.0Ghz Intel i3, i5, very optional i7 or AMD FX.

For GPU if you want enjoyable gaming, if you buy AMD HD 6870 and HD 7770 no lower on both series higher is better, if Nvidia is your candy then GTX 460 (256-bit,) GTX 560, and GTX 650ti same goes higher better.

long as you have the CPU/GPU set the rest of the spec will just follow and work. =D Also if you need help finding put your price range, then you will see a lot of systems that will play it at your price. If you put $350 or less you will see a link to Sony cause that would be ideal for PS3 not gaming pc.

Too complicated! I would wind up investing a lot of money when you're right about the PS3 reference. ... Guess upgrading my PC isn't in the cards. I just hope it stays alive for some years to come... Funny thing is I have a PS3 with TV hooked up on the same desk as my computer... hehe. Just have to shift over to look at the other side but I get bored playing it. ... In the meantime I guess I'll play DC Universe Online.
