Kraken was from FF1 and was one of the four evil fiends, not so sure it would work as a summon. (then again Diabolos was evil as well ... /shrug)

Lol the new CotT Kraken actually bears somewhat of a resemblance to the FF1 fiend. (Slightly humanoid head etc)

I was thinking that exact thing. Would be funny if in the movie it sprays ink that does nothing to the people it sprays it on lol.

It's pretty sad that when we saw this trailer in theaters, I was all psyched but my friend (who's a guy and by blood should be even more excited than me!) just said, "That looks like crap." xD
To give him credit, I don't see some amazing, emotional story coming from this. But that's totally not the point, because it delivers the big scary-awesome stuff!

haha maybe, but you gotta admit it gives a WAY better impression compared to other trite wannabe flicks in the same genre that try to come out as something big. It's definitely no sci-fi channel flick.
