Three new Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) screenshots were discovered on the official FFXIV website today. Thanks to TheFatHouseCat for discovering this and Jeo for getting the high quality versions of the screenshots.

There's some combat and possibly ifrit in the screenshots. Judge for yourself, what do you think they show?

I'd just like to point out, in the "Ifrit" pic, if you look at the Staff the summoner holds, it bears the horns of the monster, as well as a colored gem matching him. Perhaps alluding to when/if they release summoner, they may bind each summon to a single weapon, making it possible to specialize in individual summons. Which I personally think would be awesome. Thanks to those who found the images. :3

Yuck! I hope they fix those shadows, because they look like they're from a PS1 game! lol

Definitely an interesting theory Caidryn, thanks. I'm really excited to see that it seems like "beastmen" are making a return. I really enjoyed that aspect of FFXI. Their background stories, abilities, their zones, etc. Will be great to see how they do it this time around.

While the first picture does look like Ifrit something I noticed is that the character on screen holding the staff looks like the "Beastmen" from the other two pictures. Also those guys look a little scary, can't wait to fight them.

That would be awesome beyond words! I hope that your idea turns out right!! SMN was a job I always wanted to complete but never got around to finishing. I had every summon but one, and I always wished I had gotten it to 75 before I left...

As for the images, yay new stuff from SE!! Can't wait to learn more about the games, and I wish they would put out some info about the mage type classes.

Btw, the 'save' feature is now working for images. Click them and then you should see a button which says save.

The pictures are beautiful! I'd like to point out regarding a summon type class. Maybe they are not making it a "pet" class. Or maybe they are flat out lying about pet classes and not having them. Perhaps it is just another mob that looks like Ifrit. lol

Before FFXIV was announced they said that their next online installment was not going to be part of the series. So I don't tend to take what they say totally to heart. They just want people to be surprised.

Edit: Opps! Caidryn put it better. That sounds more plausible.

I'm trying to not build too much expectations for this game but it's getting hard seeing these shots !

Improve gameplay, improve game mechanics, imprive graphics, i can't see how this game can fail for me !

Analyzing that first picture, I'm seeing the side of a mountain with desert sand in the background. I'm speculating because honestly that's all we can do until they release more info but I feel like those beastmen could possibly live in the caverns around the Ul'Dah region. Think about a zone kinda' resembling Attohwa Chasm. The second picture looks like they're down in a cavern or canyon of some sort at night. These pictures really get your mind working, I can't wait for more.
