Well, first of all, there seem to be 1 classe missing.
- The Roleplayer (although it could be a subclass of the storyliner)

What i am like?
Hm...
Merchant for sure
Roleplayer/Storyliner too
A bit of the hardcore player
And last but not least a trve PVPer, but, sadly, trve PVP doesn't exist in most games, just some wannabe noobhunters or... anyway, that's another story ;)

I'm definitely a True Gamer, so much so that I've even had discussions with other True Gamers about the direction games are heading nowadays, in that things get easier and easier and appeal to less nerdy audiences, have less penalties for sucking, etc. I crave challenging game play like the good old days, and hate it that developers make games easy mode nowadays to appease the masses.

I'm a blood rager minus the ganking, too. I love to murder people in games, and take pride in being more skilled than 90% of the people I face, and if I'm not more skilled, then I practice for months until I am. This isn't solely personal pride, though, as the same applies if I am in a pvp group and we're collectively superior to other pvp groups. This is actually my favorite thing in some games. I love to have a group of people who just murder everyone and almost never lose. I hate complacent attitudes in MMOs, especially in regards to PvP. To me, you have to try to be the best, and never stop. If you're one of those people that says "we always lose so just let them win so we can play a new round," then I probably don't want to play with you.

Lastly, I'm a hardcore gamer minus the elitism, besides to my friends irl, because we brag to each other about how awesome our dudes are for the fun of it. I love to be the best I can possibly be, painstakingly min-maxing and spending hours to get whatever piece of gear I need, looking up things online to make sure I am getting the most out of my character, etc. I am proud of the fact that I've been in the best guilds on the server for almost all MMOs I've played.

P.S. This would be a great thread to form new guilds based upon others who share similar mindsets for how they enjoy playing the game as you do.

I'd say I'm an adventurer gamer, with a little bit of the story-liner mixed in.

I love exploring a game's environment, and it'll be the first thing I'll do in FFXIV.

I suppose a main reason why game devs might rather cave-in to EZ-mode is because it is perceived easier to give a man a fish than it is to teach them how to fish. Especially when they can manufacture the fish :(

Wow... Well I cant really put myself in any one category. So ill do a % of the ones I feel represent me as best i can:
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Generic Gamer \ True Gamer = 5% Thats how i started out and i still play oldies lol

The Star = 5% Getting to know people and having them meet me is one of the reasons i play games(Online).

Hard Core Gamer 40% Hell yeah I take pride in learning how to be the best at what I do.

The Adventurer 20% I love exploring new worlds and noting the small detailes that were meticulously placed into the game.

The Story-liner 30% My first game (With an actual story lol) was Final Fantasy, Story is a must-have for any game I buy.

Wow, I'm an adventuring hxc blood star..... Maybe with some random or eventual casual. Most of the blood rage is usually directed towards people who derserve it. Or maybe if it's one of those days and you are in the wrong place.... I'd probably end up feeling bad and give the person money. XD

The Adventurer

Loves to experience and nothing more. Loves the thrill of exploring a new world with new characters and eagerly awaits the next dungeon/town/level/region. Will play and buy games to explore them and quickly gets bored if nothing new is presented quickly or if there is a lot of back tracking.

MMORPG: These are the explorers and enjoy nothing more than finding the most remote secrets of every MMO world. Quickly becomes bored of a game if they've seen everything even if they are not maxed level or geared out or if there's pvp. Will explore difficult regions for fun regardless at level and farm for the supplies needed to do so.

The Story-liner (Thanks Omen!)

This gamer just want's the be immersed in an enthralling story-line with interesting characters that are facing tough decisions. This type of gamer likes to find answers.. and fast and absolutely loves 20 minute cutscenes and FMV's.
To this gamer, once the end credits are rolling the game is beaten and the disk is already being taken out... unless there is a secret ending after the credits.
This gamer cares not for trophies, bragging rights or what unlocks are left unlocked. The story is all that is wanted.

MMORPG: Is the type not to even try MMO's unless they seem interesting. Will spend all their time reading every bit of text possible in the game to find the storyline and know what is going on with the characters. Once this gamer has discovered there are no stories in MMO's they either proceed to become social gamers, talking with their guild and making other players feel better about what level they are.. or they will unfortunately cancel their subscription and got back to re-play earlier offline titles.

These to sum up my style!

I'm definitely a Hardcore gamer, and somewhat of a Blood-rager minus killing lowbies; I'm not a win at all costs kind of person, I like competition against other people.

I would also consider myself a Merchant and a True Gamer as well.  New Super Mario Bros ftw!

I have to say that I'm a mix of a Hardcore and Story-liner. I like to be good at the few games I do pick up (assuming they're online), but adore games with a good plot or engrossing atmosphere. When I find an online game I love, I find myself trying to become the best I can, almost always want to create a guild (I rarely join them), and try to surround myself by a good group of players. The main difference though is I rarely "look down" on others. The only people I dislike are those who treat others in a bad manner when the said individuals do not deserve it. Helping others is not foreign to me.

Hey all - new to this site and this will be my first post. I thought it'd be a fitting place to say hello.

I'm mostly a mix of the "True Gamer" and "Hardcore Gamer". I've been playing video games in various forms for a long time (my parents bought Pong and Intellivision if that puts things in perspective). I was into MMOs when they were still just MUDs. I'm not into the FPS scene, but I'll play most types of games - console or PC. I usually start out in Hard mode just because I like the challenge.

As far as the Hardcore Gamer part of me, I like to be efficient. For any of you that played DDO, I was an officer in Twilight Avengers for about a year. I want to have my character be the most effective at whatever role I choose. I also don't like wasting time - I have a real life (OK, not much of one, but still) and during the week I like to jump online, form up quickly, and go accomplish something. After that, I'll stick around to shop, chat, or whatever, but I like to feel like I'm getting something done.

Anyway, that sums that up. Nice to meet all of you - looking forward to the new game when it gets released!

Thanks for the welcome. I played FFXI for about a year and really enjoyed it, but had a hard time grouping and eventually got a bit frustrated and left sometime after the Chains of Promathia release. After my experience with a great guild in DDO, I think the problem grouping was my own - I never found a guild in FFXI that I really meshed with, and I didn't spend any time on forums outside the game to get to know anyone. Overall, I enjoyed most aspects of FFXI, so I've been looking forward to FFXIV since the E3 announcement this year. Hopefully I can become a little more involved this time and find a good group of folks to hang out with.

The one thing I love in a video game more than anything in the world, is Adventuring. I could be classified as any kind of gamer, because I love to do a bit of everything in a video game. If I had to choose my kind of gamer though, it has and always will be an adventurer.

I find satisfaction in searching for new locations in hopes of finding rare sceneries, items, or easter eggs left behind by the creators of the game. It's what keeps me going in the world~

I'm pretty much an adventurer and 'casual' gamer. I do not play 1-2 hours a day, more like 4 and above hours, but I'm not hardcore, I don't stay up late because of raids, and don't feel a neccesity to play a game, it should stay fun right? Mass geargrinding ruins my game experience (coughWOWcough).
