It's been fairly quiet in Final Fantasy XIV land lately. We have a translation coming up fairly soon, though. Also, todays patch notes fixes a leveling exploit.

No, they're threatening a select few players who blatantly exploited a glitch, not "the playerbase".  The same thing happened to people who abused an AH glitch in FFXI around NA launch, or who duped Salvage drops in the same game years later.  Deal with it.

Not exactly threatening. Games are shipped with EXPLOITS all the time. It's not something they intended to happen, and it gave some people an unfair advantage. Least they're not outright banning people.

I'm sure they are working on it. It's MMO launch for ya. I'd rather they fix bugs for blatant cheating before the UI Lag and Sorting. Granted it not that much higher on the priority list, but meh.

I'm sure they are working on the issues we're whining about. They have a lot on their plate. And I'm also sure the developers aren't sitting comfortably in there office twiddling their thumbs or sitting on their hands. Just be patient, I'm sure most of the issues will be fixed in due time.

Welcome to the world of online gaming. It's been like that that since MMOs came to the world and it will remain like that. Important stuff gets fixed before silly stuff.
Nice job SE! (not sarcasm btw)

Patience is wearing thin. What is the point of beta if nothing gets fixed? Them jumping in this fast to fix that exploit proves they can change things whenever they want is all im saving. The thing is their not

In the case of balance-related glitches they have no choice but to drop everything and fix them first. As bad as the UI and inventory are, people exploiting a potentially game-breaking glitch for more than a day or two is much, much worse left unchecked. I'm not giving them a pass on other game issues, but they did the right thing here.

Let's say I know someone who briefly did this. (No its not me. I don't have a magic class) this person was fighting monsters gaining skill exp and using the buffs for more. They got a total of 1200 skill points from mobs and the bug. Should they even bother emailing?

My thought is since they gained so little its not an issue. also I don't think that se can tell where you go the skill points from

Apparently some things did get fixed, as my client doesn't crash every 2 seconds. Though it has crashed twice on me since early access has started. If your patients is wearing that thin, then take a break from the game until your issues with it are fixed. I'm sure it's not that unbearable or else you would not be playing the game.

And some things are harder to change than others. I can imagine the amount of code used to fix an issue this small IMO. But UI lag seems like something they have to scour through lines of code, maybe rewrite all together because whatever method they used takes to long to process etc. Who knows what kind of stress the team is under.

I'm assuming if they log every action in the game. Or even, let's say, just your ingame log, then they can tell how often you repeated the offense.

Plenty has gotten fixed since the closed beta. Look at crafting for instance. I don't know about you but I generally found crafting to be pretty bad in CB. It was constantly plagued by elements going haywire and blowing up in my face and even when you did complete a synth back then it was not guaranteed that you'd even get skill points.

The fact is the game is here to stay. It won't fold after a few months like APB. Most of the problems will be addressed eventually. Compared to many MMO launches it's been pretty decent in all honesty. The game hasn't even been out for a week, or not even if you consider retail to be when SE edition hits the stores. Be patient.

It sounds to me that the bug was not that people are getting unintentionally high skill points while healing/buffing during a guildleve, but rather that -other- people (outside of the guildleve party) who buff/heal a party member is getting this skill ups.

By my understanding, this is truly an exploit because it is not about the party healer doing their job and get skills from it. It's about having non-leve healers spamming cures and buffs on leve parties just so that they can leech skill ups.

I have no way to confirm this because I'm not a CE player, but if it is the case then I believe action should be taken against the people that exploit this.

As long as healing while in a leve still gives a good amount of skill points it should be fine. As a conjurer and if in big groups doing 5 star leves, the only thing you can do sometimes is just spam AOE cure, if they nerfed it too much I'm just gonna solo leves, and I doubt people will want to heal during leves if they did. Will have to test it out. Cause I remember in Open Beta it was pretty much impossible to get any skill points when just healing, or maybe I was just very unlucky.

Hahaha this just made my morning, I am not sure why I am finding this so funny but I do. Please report yourself to a GM so we can strip you of your levels and give you a slap on the wrist... It's like when parents ask you to come clean before they hand down the really big punishment. That's just funny. I know people are aware deep down that this was cheating, I mean you have to know. It's ok square, we will be good kids, promise!

i'm just worried their "fix" is to no longer gain JP for healing or buffing.
