Hey everyone.

In this weeks show, I talked about my dream class that I would like to see in FFXIV. Not that it will happen, but that it's just fun to talk about. So we are looking into this for our next podcast show. So here is what I want you to do, just have fun, and make your own class using the jobs from Final Fantasy XI or from the Final Fantasy universe (time mage anyone?)... What I did was I took three jobs, blue, ninja, and summoner and turned that into my ultimate class. :)

I want a class that can do some good DD and have some magic (blue mage), can duel wield, and can call upon pets.

So let's see what we can do for different roles, so we have some interesting balance. No worries, or rules, just have fun and we'll talk about it on the show this week.

Different roles to focus on for the show:

1. Healer
2. Damage Dealer
3. Support
4. Tanks

and any combo of those roles.

Machinist
Weapon: Wrench
Armor: Cloth or Leather

The Machinist is a Support/DD that relies on various gadgets and his trusty wrench to deal damage and deal various status buffs/debuffs. I've kind of based it on the Gadgeteer/Tinker, but I don't like the whole "coin flip to see who is targeted from abilities" system. So I've made up a system of gadgets it would use. Gadgets come in two categories, sentries, or devices.

Sentries are devices that the Machinist lets loose and will fly around target it's unleashed upon. Sentries will hinder or help the target by hindering foes by shooting smoke in it's face, reducing accuracy, or aiding allies by latches onto an party member and assists his attacks by artificially increasing his strength. Only one sentry can be out at a time, so a Machinist has to decide what sentry would be best for what type of encounter.

Devices are like regular abilities with a twist. Devices can be used on allies or himself to buff, or on monsters to damage or debuff. The Crystal-Aided Power Legbrace (aka CA-POW legs) can be used against a monster to provide a powerful kick attack, or used to provide a short boost in evasion. Wind Fists can be used to deal wind elemental damage against a monster, or temporarily increase attack speed of an ally. This sets up so when a Machinist comes up with new devices, he is effectivly learning two abilities.

I remember there was a contest to make ur own class on killing ifrit a long time ago, but someone mentioned painter. It would be kind of like a rdm or dnc type deal; from what i figured, you could paint DoTs, nukes, heals, buffs, debuffs, etc. Or like the game Okami where u can slash with brush strokes.
Would be awesome to do damage with the flick of a brush sort of like a wizard wand, certain colors for damage, buff, and heal, and flick motions/patterns/symbols for different things.
AF would be a typical french type of hat, elaborate apron, a brush and palette for a shield and to select colors from in the "casting animation"
Could be a hybrid crafter class who could paint pictures (manual or auto) for houses or painting/decals for armor.
I consider myself an artistic person and think that a painter class would be wicked awesome. :th_034_:

I would love another Corsair job, but not a support roll like /whm or uhg, /brd ....

But a full DD, that causes elemental damage, phantom rolls had a cool effect, they looked pretty anyways.... But it didn't feel very much like a pirate.

Maybee something like a RNG/BLM range weapon would be a hexagun or something similar, and you would shoot "enchanted" bullets, maybee charging your gun before firing would act as "casting". Now these bullets wouldn't be as stong compared to a real mage, but because it is a bullet they can take on mobs that have physical and magic resistance.
So yeah RNG/BLM for sure...
And to keep with a pirate/corsair feel, I have to add /THF because really what is a Pirate with out treasure, and a large hat!
God's in his Heaven. All's right with the world.

The Sorcerer class ability, from FFV, when combined with any weapon, would allow for extra elemental damage of the desired type per swing, like an enspell from FFXI, but the added damage would scale up with the weapons' delay, to more even out the added damage between weapon types. I would combine this with a Warrior type wielding a Great Axe, which would retain its enemy crippling abilities from FFXI. So we have the enspell to capitalize on the mobs' elemental weakness, double attack for extra tp and enspell/normal damage, and the crippling effects of the Great Axe weaponskills.

How about this for a novel idea ? A summoner who's avatars' strengths are increased based on what other job/skill that is equipped? So a Summoner/Black mages' avatars have much stronger magic attacks that normal. That is something I've wanted for quite a long time..... to be honest I don't know how they couldn't see this obvious way of strengthening a pair of jobs that should go together as well as any others. While I'm on this track a Smn/Ninja would be able to increase the targets' elemental weakness and debuff the target, as well as skillchain with the Avatar, and magic burst it.

There are really endless combinations here that should be awesome, and there is one constant : abilities from different skillsets coming together without losing any effectiveness. There will be a lot of balancing issues, but that is totally negated by the fact that you can (should) be able to combine any 2 jobs or skillsets and get something positive out of it. You should be able to Sneak Attack your jump ability, Give your pet Berserk, have double attack work on your ranged attacks, etc, etc, etc, and in the name of all that is holy, let similar job/class abilities stack.

Another class i would really enjoy would be a ninja but one with teleport ninjutsu. Kind of like a ninja with the dual wield or katana, had abilities like ninja star barrage n' stuff (not having to use it like a ranged attack) or throwing weapon skills would be awesome. But what i would like the most would be smoke teleportation or shadowstep type things. I also liked the veils that fftactics ninjas used to ensnare and control elements for damage and debuffs.

Tho painter would be my #1 choice :th_021_:

edit: why dont they give ninja throwing weaponskills :( that'd be hardcore to be a nin/rng that uses ninja stars n' stuff, especially now with the updates

I have always thought it would be awesome to have a Glyph or Rune using class. Not sure what you could call it, Symbologist comes to mind but I might be stealing that from something without realizing it.

It would essentially be an enhancement and damage caster where rather than casting spells you draw runes and glyphs that have different effects. The exciting part would be using glyphs on other people, on Shields and weapons and armor for example. Would also be awesome to make force fields and stuff (a la the trailer >.>) by drawing a rune on the ground.

Don't know how useful it would be necessarily but it would make my day for sure ^_^

Corchy have you seen Elektra?

That's how nins should be o.o

She keeps swinging at the nins but they teleport around as they drop their shadows.

I can't find a good video maybe I'll edit one in later.

if i had to pick one, i'll choose class similar to Ravager.

weapon : Greatsword
armor : Light/heavy armor

The class is basically a mix between big damage dealer and sneaky assassin. One of the attack called Sneaky Attack which can deal huge amount of damage depending on the position using the sword Dagriohm. In addition, he/she can do damage with multiple AoE type such as cone, line, around and around the character. The class itself is a tank and a damage dealer. This class is so badass, even the japanese called them Bastard (バスタード Bastādo)(OP!)

Must... Have... Chocobo Knight!!!

I would love mounted classes, specifically the chocobo kind. I feel it should have a larger variety of equip-able weapons and should include (but not necessarily limited to) lance/pike, bow & arrow, sword & shield, katana and guns.

I'd like to make them more true to life, but still have them not be over powered, so to do that maybe they would have have higher strength than the class thats mounted, but much less accuracy, and a little longer delay.
The enemy would see them as a higher threat and would naturally gather larger hate.
Their skills would have a few of the weapon they hold and a few of the chocobo's abilities. Perhaps different chocobos have different abilities too (think of FFT's colored chocobos).
And with each enemy attack there will always be a chance of injuring/spooking your chocobo to knocking you off your mount and losing your mount for a short period of time. It would damage you as you fall, and possibly stun and with the hate still attached.

Its just a rough idea, but if they could do something to that effect... I would be in love with the Chocobo Knight.

The runeCaster idea makes me think of magical (area)traps and buffs or even a slow trickle cure/refresh for those closeby.

I think that would be very fun.

I worry about chocobo knights being able to get good enmity because they could kite anything without draw-in.

I'd love a pure Gatherer/Artisan class. That was one of the things I loved about SWG, especially early on before Holocrons, there were PLENTY of people who did nothing BUT craft. And there were actually people who got known by word of mouth on the server for making the best of the best gear. I have gotten far more casual the more I play and this type of gameplay would appeal to me. The ONLY bad thing about it was that every once in awhile in SWG if you were a pure crafter, your mineral extractors would find themselves in the midst of a nasty spawn where you with no combat couldn't really get close to them. Of course my solution was to offer clearing out the near by nests as a player created quest with similar pay. That way everyone wins.

So if the editors of FFXIVCore plan on starting a guild a want someone dedicated to crafting for everyone, keep me in mind. :th_070_goodjob:

BTW: I love these icons though I forgot where there from, some Japanese artist no?

Speaking of Chocobo's, I would love mounts to have Saddlebags to for extra room in them when far from home.

There will be a pure class like that but we're not sure if you will need an alt. character to max another class.

About the chocobo storage, I'm willing to guess no since SE doesn't tend to be true to their trailers.

would be cool to have a cross between a time mage/red mage and a fencer or something... like a time spellblade

haste self, slow enemy, gravity, quicken movement or teleport short distance moves/very brisk stop spells. im very attracted to the idea of being able to strategically teleport around a small area to gain advantages placement wise, especially if that's what they will focus on (getting on the side of an enemy or behind to do more damage or avoid triggering moves)
maybe set teleport spots where if ppl walk over that tile they teleport to a secondary tile u set, so u can lay a set of portals to swish around to escape or gain advantages. or send an enemy away.
lay a tile in front of a mage and one further away so when the mage gets aggro it will step on the tile and be transported back and then the tiles disappear/reset.
