When your daddy's in the ground, mommy's gonna sell you by the pound. When your mommy's up and gone, you're gonna be the lonely one. When you are the lonely one, no one will be there to sing this song. Hush now...mommy's gone...and daddy too..Posted Image

Then you're doing exactly what you're supposed to do: go out into the world, gather, hunt, explore, craft, make friends, maybe do some Guildleves. That's the game! There is not a giant string of 2,500 quests that leads you from level 1 to level 85 in this game.

Next step of the story quest will find you when you hit 20.

I am guessing that this is one thing that will stop new MMO players from getting into this game. Games like WOW lead you around by the hand and you pretty much have to go out of your way to get off the quest train. Not sure which one I prefer but I guess a little of both and for me at the moment this seems to have a good balance. Between the story quests you can certainly explore all the other options in the game.

I have been giving other classes a run which is a good time for sure. Nice to not be stuck with your choice from the start.

New players can't wipe their butt and need the game to do it for them? Man the world is going farther down hill everyday.

What happened to throwing you in town with an adventure's coupon or putting you in the woods with nothing but a bronze hatchet and a tenderbox runescape style. No tutorial. Puts hair on your chest and prepares you not be bad.

It's a new decade, Klaus. Game design has evolved. Evolve or die. FFXIV is a great hybrid between the old and the new MMO design philosophys: you can skip the lead-by-the-hand quests and just do it all yourself, or you can do nothing but the quests and guildleves and avoid grinding entirely. However, the most efficient way is to do both.

So, just to be clear, I just finished Some Like it Hot, someone in-game told me there're no more quests after that, just one main quest-line per city when actually there ARE more quest lines, I just have to grind a bit before I can do them? Also, are there more main story-line quests other than Some Like it Hot that I have to be a higher level to reach? One more question, a bit off topic, and sorry for asking so many questions, is there another big town near Ul'Dah? I tried running around and exploring and when I'd go fight a monster outside of the BBcamp area quite a ways, I'd get one-hitted by some monster and figured that I went the wrong way.

A) Yes.

B) Yes.

C) Not "near," but not "far" either. You will see a point for The Black Shroud to the NE and for the Ferry Docks to the W, this is where you go to move to another area with a different home city. The roads are safe to travel on in these starter zones at least.
