Howdy everyone and welcome to another episode 24 of the CrystalCore podcast.

I hope that everyone who wanted to check out the open beta has been able to register and get logged into the game. And if so, I hope everyone is having a good time, I know I am.

Anyway, we have a great show for you this week, Cerulean Shaman joins us this week as our special guest and we talk a lot about our impressions of the open beta, and the issues that people are having with the game. It was a blast to record with Cerulean and here is the list of the topics that we covered in this weeks show.

All this and more, plus two segments of three questions as to make up for last week. :)

Download/listen to the show here!

Or you can always subscribe on iTunes and/or the Zune Marketplace and listen right now.

FYI... Thanks to everyone who has been working with me to help come up with our theme song, sorry if I'm slow to respond, but we will continue to work on this. :)

Good one as usual. Nice to hear Cerulean! 2 weeks till next cast??!!! How can I survive??? :P

I've said it before, but it is nice to see the optimistic side of things, not just the doom and gloom and nerdrage. I have beta'd quite a few of the Triple A titles, and I totally realize it is a work in progress. This is NOT the final product, and it will be improved as time goes on. I remember the first months of WoW (and no this is not a FFXIV vs wow statement). But remember captain placeholder? The boat used to dump people in the middle of the ocean. There was a mass drowning at least once a day! Anyhow, I don't wanna talk about WoW...been there, done that, retired and never want to go back.

Anyhow guys, I am still trying to touch base with Hammerfist so I can get my shell, but Brian, look forward to a friend invite from me. I am Kalanai Moondancer in Ul'dah. School starts tomorrow, so I am not sure how often I will be on. (damn being a mature student! Classes AND responsibilities). Hopefully I can connect with an officer soon. :)

I still need to think of 3 questions.

I agree with Brian's point that there needs to be some hand-holding. Although they encourage casual gamers with guildleves, that's really the only system I found obvious to use and just because I was familiar with the blue/green lights of the counters from nearly every trailer. Trying to understand the concepts of guilds and guild marks and how to utilize each classes and just how to craft in general, has been really a challenge. It is immersing in the way that it's more like real life and nobody's going to magically appear with a guiding light and show you the way, but in another aspect I just get frustrated and waste a lot of time running everywhere.

About the music, I really like every track, I feel that they all really match the settings, but I don't really think twilight over thanalan fits the desert. I became really accustomed to it with the trailer and listened to it a lot, and I don't think I should hear something that calm and peaceful in the treacherous thanalan desert. Regardless, it's an amazing piece, just a strange appearance in the game for me.

Because of his work schedule we decided to make the third chair a rotating guest seat. :)

Super Charged vs Turbo Charged....

Super Charger is belt driven and forces air intake in to your engine, Super Chargers give you instant power but at the cost of power being that its belt driven it does put some extra strain on your engine..

Turbo Charger uses air from the exhaust [then cooled] and forced back into the air intake for your engine. Turbo chargers have no [or minimal] cost to the engine as its not a direct drive [belt driven] however with a turbo you have "boost lag" because the turbo has to spool up to build pressure.

as far a nitro-charger .. lol you can add a nitrous shots to a turbo or a super charger however rather than advancing your timing like you would on a naturally aspirated engine you actually have to retard your timing. I prefer a turbo charger. I can get past the 'boost lag' for the over all build I want to do but all in all it comes down the the engine you have in the car you are driving.

200 grand items : Not that unachievable really. As you guys mentioned it was for a rank 24 character and I'm at rank 12 and accumulated way over 100k by now (of course I've spent it all). But I imagine if I managed to buckle down on the spending from now on I'd be pretty close to 200k in another 10 levels time.

I just love listening to the podcast at the end of the night, totally agree with you guys on the issue of as long as you've got good friends, you can over look problems and still have fun. Looking back on FFXI I gap at how painful lvling was, but even though i was slow at it, i had a great time with friends and my LS along the way. :)

Great podcast as usual, look forward to it each week!

I have to say that Cerulean Shaman is like the Casey Kasem of podcasts. He sounds like he belongs on the air. Smooth, calm, and intelligent. Great addition to this weeks show.

I see some people are with the movement to see more of Jake. That said:
I love the podcast! Brian and Danny, you both do a terrific job of discussing the ins and outs of each topic. Danny never fails to look objectively at each topic, sensitive to both outlooks. Its great! But seriously... Jake just wastes air time. He's asked a question and all you get is 45 seconds of "ummmmmmmmm, wellllll..(15 second pause).. in FFIX it was like xxxx, but ummmmmm..... (15 second pause)... now its like ummmmmm yyyy, oh did I mention gunblades?" I don't dislike Jake, I think he's probably an awesome guy, but in my opinion he's a horrible guest for your OUTSTANDING podcast.

Regardless, Awesome show! Thanks for the time and effort!!!

I liked Shaman too, other than it was hard to hear him sometimes.

But y'all need to back up off my boy Jake. Posted Image

I like him. He's not an elitist, and just has fun playing the games.

Another great show guys! Please keep it up after the release. ;)

Allow me to be the third to nominate the return of Cerulean Shaman to the third seat in the show. And let me add this: very informative and very mellow at the same time.

I'll be getting back from Nashville today so then I'll get with Ralsu and start working up the next show. Lots of fun info this week and we are on the eve of the collectors edition. :) Woot!

The next few weeks should be a lot of fun. :)
