Hot key points:

4. Possible in-city battles (besieged?)

Battles in the cities? besieged by the other enemy nation? hmmm interesting, at least it keeps people on there toes if they do it and brings players back to there respective homes to defend them.

A lot of people are thinking this, and this might happen, but I think you're misunderstanding what the intention of the developers' words are. They're just saying that it is possible for an enemy to follow you into town and for you to fight with it inside. I'm guessing that there would be guards posted to keep them from getting too far in, like other MMORPGs with seamless city-field connections.

If besieged happens again, it would most likely still be instanced. Events like that happening without being instanced would be a burden on the machines of casual players hanging around the cities and crafting or other stuff.

"what was at the CORE of the FFXIV world," haha...I don't suppose that was just your guys' emphasis on 'core' =)

tidbits of amusement, funny ending

and arg! the "who knows?" response!

Oh, that "Who knows" response. So mischievous, so frustrating. I'm glad someone noticed the emphasis on CORE. Yes, that was my doing. It really was in the article though, I swear!

I understood what was stated but giving promise to the likelihood of such events is more then enough to make people happy. Think about it, it could be just a event like besieged that happens maybe once a month and people would be happy, instanced or otherwise.

And yeah I don't doubt there will be guards outside the city gates, the zone/area/region/wateva the cities are in will be seamless so they would be stupid not to have guards on the gates.

Am I to assume that the beta will be worldwide? I hope this is the case! This would be great news for players all over the world.

just noticed this interview on another site and they didn't even bother to post the word-for-word translation, they took the translation and summarized it. lol. was pretty terrible as most of it was the summarizational opinion of the poster xD

We put love and care into all the work we do. It is my personal opinion that even those who can't read Japanese deserve to have access to the same information that those who can read Japanese have access to. I don't think it's fair that the Japanese are the only demographic that is privy to this information, since it will be released in at least four different languages.

Just for clarification, I was referring to the other site taking your translation text, reading it, and then summarizing it (so as not to plagiarize it) and in doing so they left a lot to be desired, let alone be discussed. I much prefer how you and Aya have been doing word-for-word translations from the mags/scans.

with all due respect and fairness, the fact that they used similar imagery and review "structure" is just a bit... suspect ^^;

Also considering they had been scooped almost 8 hours in advance meant a quick fix was necessary before too many flocked elsewhere where the new info was.

/conspiracytheory =O

this just in:

haha

not even a member over there and getting cross forum quoted.

I should grow my hair out and get tattoos cause this wreaks of rock stardom/drama.

but hey, it got the site linked to not once, but twice :th_070_goodjob: and I never had to post a thing. /flexforummuscle

This. No more 'Japanese head start' where most japanese players are better than everyone by the time we finally started.

If another site doesn't translate the way you like, just don't visit them. But please don't accuse anyone of plagiarism without valid reason. The person who did the translation linked to above is fluent in Japanese, and would have no reason to "preview" a translation before conducting her write-up.

Bottom line: don't accuse someone of something you can't prove.

I say we all try and join each beta and work collectively as a site to help SE out.
