Hi ya Core!
Only a quick post this evening because ive been mainly surfing the net to night trying to feed my addiction w/o the aid of any real SE software.
Just came across some slightly disturbing news about FFxiii. This is not new info so im really sorry for those who clicked on my blog expecting a scoop.
I read, NO SHOPS NO TOWNS and NO REAL NPC's in FFxiii >.<
This sounds very strange to me and a little worrying, i have been curently trying really hard to convince the other half that i should get a PS3 (i need it for Xiv because my laptop is cronically out of date) and i was going to get it with a bundle included with FFxiii.
Reading the reviews it seems that the game plays more like a film and not much in the way of free roaming, i even saw a mention of no world map ;;
This slightly alarms me but i dont think its going to change my mind about getting one with it.
Has anyone had a chance to play the Jap version of it? How did you find it? Would be nice if someone could calm my nerves especially with no invite for the beta testing coming my way.

Oh yeah, maybe we should start a union on facebook for all those that didnt get an invite for the Beta.. lol maybe call it... hmmm... Beta luck next timers group hehe. Any way peace

I personally dont take reviews to heart, because you never know the bias of the person writing it. I have seen some very very good reviews of 13, and some not so good.
Personally if you are a fan of the series, and plan on getting a PS3 anyway for 14, then what the hell right? May as well try it.
Personally I am majorly looking forward to it. Played the entire numbered series and loved them all (although X2 left something to be desired personally)
Watch some videos on youtube, check out how the combat works, and dont get hung up on "no towns" "linear" etc, experience the game for yourself.

I have a friend who imported (he;s a japanese studies student), and he said its extremely linear till 15-20 hours in (also what reviews say), then it opens up to missions, which are also linear.
But he also says its an amazing game, with a great story, and a very fun battle system, and that people shouldnt let no towns/shops/world map bother you.
And sorry to be the one to tell you, but there is no PS3/XIII bundle, only a 360 bundle.

Your right Bodok, What the hell hehe. i do love the series and i thought X2 was a bit strange too, although i did play it for a while.
Apoc, never mind about the bundle, tho it would have been nice :(

Wow! I had not read that there was not going to be shops/towns/etc in FFXIII :( Although I have had FFXIII preordered for months, I am looking forward to FFXIV much more than FFXIII, so I haven't spent much time looking into FFXIII. This information is disappointing. One of my favorite things to do in final fantasy games is roam around.
The only review I have read was positive though, so I am still excited for the release. The only negative point in the review I read was that the story was somewhat obvious and basic, although still well done.
I am sure it will be a great game none the less. There have only been a couple final fantasy games that I really didn't like. I thought X-2 was a little lame and crystal bearers was also pretty bad. As long as it is better than these two, I will love it!
