Now, first off, correct me if I'm wrong, as I currently haven't run into any restriction on running my Guildleves, but I don't want to spread false information in the case this changes, or if I have just been daydreaming...
So far, after a week into the Open Beta, I've been having a blast, I've been playing with my wife, who loves the game. (We both use gamepads, btw) And also been playing with Ralsu and a bunch of people from the website.
I started in Ul'dah which I really like, and my wife she started in Gridania. Being that she was level 1 and I didn't think would be able to make it all the way to Ul'dah I ran to Gridania to meet up with her. I had already run all my leves for the two Ul'dah camps, Dry Bone and (can't remember name at the moment), so I was surprised when I went to the adventure guild with her, that I was able to pick up the 7 Guildleves for that city.
Since then, I've also gotten Limsa Lominsa and am able to port to all three cities and run the leves in their adventure guild.
Based on my play style, I am able to run Ul'dah's and some of Gridania's, then the next day, the rest, followed by Limsa Lominsa's... By the time I have completed all these, solo, or with friends, Ul'dah is back on the map...
It ends up being a balance between anima and time. And so far, (unless they change this) I end up having 24 leves every 48 hours, rather then the normal 8 for your city.
Anyway, for those of you who are looking for more to do after you run though your cities' leves, I would give this a try, and let me know if you have any issues. :)

In open beta GLs are basically unlimited if you have a good group of friends.
You can keep making alts over and over again getting new GLs.
It's not a bad deal if you have selfless friends who don't mind not really gaining anything when it's their turn to make their alt.

That method works great, but like you said it's a matter of balancing anima. It's slow to return, so you will run out.
The whole idea of making alts just to do guild leve's for your friends, is ridiculous. You would get much more exp just grinding mobs, in the time it takes to make an alt, do the opening stuff, get leve's, run out there, start leve's, etc etc.

On the issue of anima yep, it isn't one until you're out and then you are stuck, with running etc. Hopefully Chocobo's will be ride-able soon.
The other method is to use this, with your friends rather then ride alts.
With three friends, each friend picks up their leves for that city. Three run the leves for that friend, then teleport to another city, and do another friends leves...
If each friend handles one teleport then your anima will last much longer. :)
Instead of using 18, you only use 6 and thus will have it last much longer. :)

That's a good way to maximize, but also if you need to go back to a certain place you'd just been to, you can save Anima by using Return instead of teleport. I didn't find out until today, but you can use it when you're alive, it reduces the amount of anima used, I think by half, or by 2. One of the two.

I also heard that with every patch the server timers restarted so this might not be a good indicator..
I don't know if that's true or not.

Great point!
I would even say, since there isn't any xp loss. You can just let something kill you for a free port... However, this might not always work in your favor. ;)
No XP loss but your equipment degrades by alot..

Um we thought the same thing yesterday as we (me and a friend) made the trek to Gridania from Ul'dah but I was unable to trade in my Leve's to be able to do the ones in Gridania :*(.
On another note. If you are doing Leve's with friends/LS members ensure that you do not have the same Leves as it counts the leve being complete for all those that have it. At least this is what I noticed happen in one instance while doing leve's with some others. Now to work around that you will want to make sure that not everyone has the same leve's, this can be done by having people do a quick check and ensure that this is not the case, and after a group gets done then you can just have some one go to town and pick up the leve's. This is similar to what you are saying if there is 3 of you and you go to the 3 cities you can pick up Leve's there not everyone but one of the 3 can do it and you can do that all day if you got enough people together.
