Well to say it’s been a good year would be an understatement. First I want to say Happy Anniversary to the CrystalCore podcast. It was this time (or around this time last year) that I was at home watching the Sony PlayStation E3 conference with such excitement as I knew someone would have to announce the follow up to Final Fantasy XI, (It was posted in EGM that something would be announced at E3 back in December) which I felt was a long time coming.
All the rumors and info that could be found was that the game was being developed using the Crystal Tools engine and that it might not even be called “Final Fantasy”, but I had hope, and waited and watched the press conference. Finally word came when they announced that Final Fantasy XIV would be coming exclusively to PS3, the video played, and I saw some characters that were similar to that of Final Fantasy XI, but I didn’t want to get my hopes up just yet. Then it happened, the video finished and the title said Final Fantasy XIV “ONLINE”! I jumped out of my seat and shouted for joy, for this was what I wanted to see and hear. I then rewound the video and watched it a few dozen times, before texting my friends to tell them the news.
It wasn’t but a week later then I went out and picked up some recording equipment and started researching how to create a podcast and then through a lot of trial and error created the podcast. I don’t really remember the name of the podcast when we started, but we soon changed the name to Eorzephoira, which was really hard for me to say, but I had fun trying. After doing several shows talking about anything and everything that we could find, and/or think of to talk about we ended up getting together with FFXIVCore.com and making our show for the site and things couldn’t be better. Currently we are at fifteen shows with the Core, but are almost at 30 total since that day last year at E3. Not a bad year, if I do say so myself.
It’s crazy to think about the last year, so much has happened and I just want to reflect on that for a moment. First, I got engaged, then in August I lost my job, and thus while I was looking for work I know the show suffered a bit with my schedule and plus there wasn’t much information to go around. Then, in November I got a new job, which I love, and then the CrystalCore podcast said goodbye to Abbaddon (back when we used our character names) and a few months later we said hello to Danny who has been a great addition to the show. From there we have had several guest, more prevalent has been Jake and with his experience with Final Fantasy XI he has been a welcome addition to the show.
The community here at the Core has also grown, and it has become a wonderful place to come for Final Fantasy news and information. Posting the shows and reading the feedback from everyone has been the best part of making them. We have learned a lot, made mistakes, but overall keep working to bring everyone the best podcast on the web. I can say I’m a blessed man to be a part of something that is fun, and is a great way to share my passion for Final Fantasy (Online or off) with the world.
From humble beginnings sitting in my kitchen with my friends at the table to talking with people from all over the country and world (Thanks Mooga) the show has been a big part of my life, and I’m excited to see that continue into the next year and beyond. This Saturday I’ll be getting married, if you are a religious person, keep me in your prayers that I might make a good husband to my wife and if you are not, keep me in your thoughts for the same reason. I’m both nervous and excited to get to spend my life with such a wonderful woman who lets me podcast, play games, and be myself. She often says that she can’t believe how well the show is doing and that she can’t wait to play Final Fantasy XIV with me. How blessed am I? :)
So, I just wanted to post this blog, thanking all the fans of the CrystalCore podcast for their support, feedback, ideas, friendship, critique, and their time. I couldn’t do it without the help of my co-hosts Danny, Jake, and thousands of listeners out there, as well as the staff and community of people here at FFXIVCore.com who makes this show possible.
It has been a great year, here to the next year blowing that away. :)

Yep, I had a very similar experience. I had no idea what was coming and I might have just as easily missed it. I was watching g4's E3 coverage on and off and I walked into the room just as heard that SquareEnix is about to announce something. When I heard the music and saw those first lines of text, I thought "could it be?" Then I saw those FFXI elements and part of me knew what was happening, but another part of me didn't want to get too excited just yet. Cue the logo and then FLASH! ONLINE! I lost it and ran throughout the house cheering! Imagine a fully grown man running around as ecstatic as that kid who just got his first Nintendo 64!
Anyways, I got way off track there... I'm a big fan of the podcast and so, THANK YOU!

Thank you Brain for sticking through and continuing the podcast even in your roughest days. Congratulations on the wedding, hope you many good years to follow and continued success with the project before and after release. Having a wife that plays games with you is always a plus!

I've been half-way across the world for two years now, and didn't hear about FFXIV until February of this year. When I stumbled upon FFXIVCore.com that first maniacal day of desperate internet-searching, it took me nearly 3 whole days to read as much as I could about this great new game. After I read all I could read, and stared at the official site till I went partially blind, I finally got around to listening to your podcast. I was instantly hooked.
Now, I can't seem to go anywhere without throwing on one of your podcasts on my phone. I love listening to the news and your thoughts about FFXIV. Danny and Jake and Anna have been great co-hosts/guests, and I have always wanted to take the time to thank you guys for taking the time to produce this podcast. I'm always eagerly awaiting your next episode.
Best of luck to you and your wife on your new life together! And I hope you think it's as interesting as I do that your podcast is listened to, literally, all around the world! Keep up the great work, guys!

As a huge fan of the podcast team, I'd like to give a huge thank you to you, on behalf of not only the FFXIVCore staff, but also the fans and daily visitors.
For me, you guys make getting new information that much more interesting. Whether its speculation, reviewing and sorting through material in an orderly fashion, or just plain goofing around with one another, you and your "podcasters" do an outstanding job. I wish the best of luck to you and your new wife, and look forward to seeing more of your work. Just remember to always take time off when needed, family first!
I've kept up with each episode to date, and can't wait to hear more.
