Hello fellow Corians.

Many of you have expressed interest in a new site, where we as a community could gather once more, after the last hours of the Core have passed.

With this post I will present the options that have been laid out before us as of now, and it is the hope of Suirieko, Jackel, and us few moderators left, that we can all agree on a course of action for our continued existence as a community.

The first, and the easy/quick option, would be to move to FFXIVRealm.com, who've promised to receive us with open arms and welcome us into their community.

The second, and perhaps the most difficult option, in more ways than one, is to create a new site from scratch.
The reason why this would a difficult step, is that it is not only a question of time, but also of finance. As things are now, Suirieko can't afford to create new site out of her own pocket, I have already pledged a minor sum, should this be our choice, but that won't be enough either.

A large amount of you have expressed a desire to help, but of course we don't expect such help to be only financial.

So voice your opinion on these two options, or feel free to come up with a third.

For those of you who wish to stay in contact with us, should this drag on past Monday, you can add/contact Suirieko or myself (Malrend) on Skype, just leave a mention of the Core and your Core username in the contact-request.

Hey guys!
Fernehalwes here.

We've received a two-tonze truckload of feedback on character creation since the alpha test, and from what I saw in today's build, much has changed since then. If you thought there were a lot of options before, wait until you see all the new ways to customize your avatar, including...

An extended hair color palette, plus a plethora of playful tattoos.

Posted Image

Several new hairstyles for men...

Posted Image

Several new hairstyles for women, including...OMG! Long hair options! And is that a SLIDER on the right for ear size!?

Posted Image

And a slider for height!? What else could there be a slider for!?!??

Posted Image

And purple whiskers!? And purple eyes!?

Posted Image

And OH MY GOD MY EYES THE RED IT BURNS!

Posted Image

Get ready to let your imagination run wild!

Fernehalwes.

Well then, I'm going to go ahead and post this announcement.

The Past and Present:

It is with heavy heart to announce that FFXIVCore is coming to it's end. It is apparent that the powers that be of Curse has decided to put an end to this community, as it has been announced today.

The site will be officially closed as of this Monday. (5/20/2013)

This has been quite a journey, and we have had our peaks, and since then we've been struggling to return to our former glory. Many people view FFXIV as SquareEnix's biggest Trainwreck today, and lost all confident in it, despite their attempt to try to revitalize the game (In which I think they will succeed).

Thinking about it now, it's not a surprise that it has gotten to this point, as the competing community did made things difficult as well as several other factors. Externally, and internally of FFXIVCore. I won't get into that.

I want to thank you guys for sticking around as long as you guys have been, and produced great memories. Jackel and I have loved this community and is the reason why we stuck around as long as we could, and hell we've fought for this community as much as we could. No need to go into that detail for now.

I know some of us are angry over Curse's decision. Hell, FFXIV's gonna be re-released in a few months, and they chsoe to close this community anyway...

I'm not happy about it, but I'm going to continue to hold my head up high, to the future.

Thank you very much for everything, guys.

And now we go onto..

The Future.

Now, because of how awesome this community has been, we ARE going to try very hard to preserve this community, as I've been talking to Curse about what we CAN do.

First of all, what we WILL do is basically we are going to move to a new site, and it will be independently owned. There will be more details on that later.

Now on to the bad news:

Far as preserving this database (and hell, this site) is concerned, there's very little of what I can do. The domain name will not be kept, and the database will not be preserved. Curse will not allow backups due to legal reasons, as well as retain FFXIVCore.com as its property, as well as its name.

This will mean that the new site will not be called FFXIVCore.

For now, I have no details on the new site, and hope to have such details out before Monday, so please stay tuned.

Also, you can continue to keep updated with this by visiting our facebook page:
http://www.facebook.com/ffxivcore

or our twitter:
http://www.facebook.com/ffxivcore

I can also be reached via Skype via Suirieko. (Just mention your user name when you add me!)

You guys can rob me of making the initial announcement but hell I'm still gonna do it anyway >____>.

Today I am the bearer of sad news. Ffxivcore will be closing in the very near future. Due to outward pressures and inherent competition with other community sites, we are no longer able to support this great community.

Thank you to our passionate community members, all of you that read and enjoyed our content on a consistent basis, or any readers that popped in to check things out once in a while. Thank you to our staff, who worked remarkably to provide our community with enjoyable news and articles.

To those of you that still hunger for further FFXIV content, please make sure to stop by our wiki at FFXIV Wiki.

Once again I thank all of you for being a part of this journey.

We’re proud to announce that FFXIV: A Realm Reborn will be at E3 2013 in Los Angeles on June 11-13! While things are a bit hectic as our E3 preparations are in full swing alongside our Beta Phase 3 planning, the development and operations teams have been working hard to prepare exciting content for E3 attendees. If you’re able to attend, you'll definitely want to stop by the FFXIV: A Realm Reborn area at the Square Enix booth! Just what will the attendees be playing at the show? While we don’t want to ruin the surprise, we can say we're planning to let them try out some exciting battle content!

Since E3 is an industry-only event, many people won't be able to participate -- but don't worry! We're also prepping a lot of new videos (including an awesome new trailer!), assets and even some... hm, how should we say... "live" streamed entertainment? We'll have lots of juicy announcements for those of you watching at home, so be sure to mark your calendars!

Greetings all!
Fernehalwes here for a quick post before getting back to that mountain of FATE text on my desk.

I was passing by the marketing area when I spied something of interest lying on one of their coffee tables...

HEY! "World of Wapcra" stole our Miqo'te bard! Someone alert the lawyers! Sue baby! Sue!

What? This is the newest edition of respected Swedish MMO magazine "Level Presents : World of Warcraft" and they're doing a ten-page spread on FINAL FANTASY XIV?

OHHHHHH! I knew that. Thanks Level! You guys are the greatest! Forget that part about the lawyers (they don't listen to me anymore anyway after that spat we had about 'Get to the Copper').

Not much of a blog, but hey.. Good news for myself and my Scandinavian brethren, ARR is actually getting some attention here as well now.

Hey guys!
Fernehalwes here!

Every year at the end of April in Japan, there's a week so spectacular, so scintillating, so utterly stunning that it's called Golden Week. Multiple national holidays converge with two sets of weekends to form an extended window of respite which not only rejuvenates the hearts and minds of a weary nation, but spreads joy and happiness from the northern most tip of Hokkaido to the southern most islands of Okinawa and everywhere in-between. Well, everywhere, that is, except at SQEX headquarters where it was business as usual getting the game ready for the next phase of the beta test.

But if we're so busy, what then, am I doing writing this post?
Good question! There's a reason I've been MIA on the Lore Forums and the beta servers, and why it takes several moments for my littlest voidsent to recognize me when I finally make it home after a long day buried under all 20 hardback volumes of the OED. And that reason will become evident very soon when you all get your hands on the massive amount of new content that is coming in the next beta test (phase three). And the amazing thing is...even that amount is only a portion of what will be in the game at release!

Even Yoshi-P was burning the Golden Week oil checking even the most detailed aspects of the game.

Question. What is Yoshi-P doing in this photo?

Posted Image

If you guessed "simultaneously comparing the differences in color and contrast between the PC and PS3 versions on six monitors of various manufacturers," you get a mythril star!

For those interested, the differences were deemed within an acceptable range and given the Yoshi-P seal of approval. YAY!

What Yoshi-P was truly interested in, however, were the differences in monitors. As you can see in the following photo, there is a noticeable difference between manufacturers:

Needless to say, our fearless director spent the next 30 minutes fiddling with the picture settings on both displays and ended up being late to a meeting with the big wigs on the 20th floor. OOOPS!
